| The
village of Wigmore lies in the quiet and peaceful Marcher Country.
The village itself nestles around the church of St. James,
whose early features date from the Conquest, and the ancient ruin of Ralph
de Mortimer's castle in North Herefordshire, one of the largest castles of
the Welsh border.

The
village features some excellent examples of seventeenth century brick and
timber frame houses.
To the west of the village a
network of footpaths lead upwards into Wigmore Rolls and on the
eastern side lie Bringewood Chase and High Vinnals.
|
| Wildlife
is abundant in the area. Buzzards are a common sight, as are herons
and kingfishers, and deer can be seen in the local forests. |
